Gantry Crane in industrial setting

Gantry Cranes

Gantry cranes provide a flexible lifting solution for environments where an overhead crane cannot be supported by the building structure or where mobility is required. Unlike bridge cranes, gantry cranes are supported by legs that move on wheels or rails at ground level, allowing the system to operate independently of the building.

A bridge beam connects the two legs, and a hoist travels along the beam to lift and move loads. This design allows gantry cranes to handle heavy materials while maintaining portability and flexibility across a worksite.

Gantry cranes are commonly used in outdoor yards, construction sites, warehouses, and maintenance facilities. Smaller portable gantry cranes are also widely used in workshops for equipment maintenance and occasional lifting tasks.
